The objective

Preparation For Employment

The Supported Internship and Pre-Supported Internship programmes are structured study and work experience programmes where our learners are working towards a City & Guilds Employability qualification and functional English and Maths where applicable.

Learners will build on their communication, social skills and an understanding of their adult status as they develop new skills to help them find and stay in work they enjoy.

For the Supported Internship programme our learners will initially attend college 4 days per week, with this reducing over the course of the programme as the number of hours they do with an employer increases.

For the Pre-Supported Internship programme our learners will initially attend college 5 days per week, with some periods of time spent on work experience with employers.

Become a host

Why should I host an intern?

There are lots of good reasons to host a supported internship work placement. You can make a positive contribution to your local community and increase the diversity of your workforce to reflect your customers and society. The placement also:

Acts as an extended working interview.

Giving you an increased chance of getting the right person to fill your vacancies and bringing new skills to your workforce.

Demonstrates strong social responsibility.

Which builds trust and commitment with your customers and stakeholders.

Increases your organisation's understanding of your market.

A workforce that reflects the diverse range of customers it serves, and the community in which it is based, is good for business.
